IWJG September 2011 Las Vegas Show Report

The show kicked off in the all new Pavilion Ballroom at the Tropicana. We have a few things to work out in the space (extra lighting is one) but the great thing is that it can accommodate the IWJG for several years to come even with the growth we have been experiencing. The Tropicana is committed to making the IWJG comfortable in the new space so if you have any ideas please let us know so we can pass them on to the hotel. We are still waiting on show reports from you, but here is some of what I picked up from walking the tradeshow floor. Raymond Arnold had his best show ever! Byron Eder was all smiles. Mike Fonz and Gabe Arik were tickled with their watch show results and Fred Hakimian and Tommy LaBret both reported that Las Vegas was a good diamond show. There were many other dealers that took the time to stop by the staff desk to report very good results for this show. Just so it doesn’t sound like we are blowing smoke, we had a few, not so glowing reports, but that is how it always is at an IWJG Show especially as the shows get larger.

The crowds seem to move around the floor in groups at these larger shows and sometimes our dealers feel swamped and then at other times there is not a lot of traffic in their aisle. Here is all we know... we have the finest group of dealers (buyers and sellers) in the world with the best selection of merchandise anywhere. The dealers that come to the show with the right merchandise that is priced right usually go home happy. The buyers that come to our shows with the right expectation of market value almost always, by mid afternoon, day two, have bought and sold enough merchandise to make a successful show. We think there is a lesson here... we live in a marketplace and it is always moving. Make sure you are moving with it. It’s just better when you do (in most cases).

The IWJG works hard to provide a good, safe, fun venue for our shows, but we never forget that it is our great membership and your knowledge of this industry that makes each show special. If there is anyway we can help any of you let us know. You are our greatest asset.

If you would like to share your show report with our membership, submit it as soon after the show as possible to Info@iwjg.com, attention Joe Nelson and we will do our best to include all comments.
