IWJG May 2011 Las Vegas Show Report

The International Watch and Jewelry Guild Memorial Day Show at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada promised to be a zinger of a show. The promise was nothing like the reality. It was a GREAT SHOW!

With over 300 exhibitors and 1,200+ dealers and guests in attendance, the action was hard to believe. The giant Celebrity Ballroom at Planet Hollywood gave us plenty of room for the crowds to move around in this completely SOLD OUT event.

Monday morning started off with its normal Las Vegas "slow-to-wake-up" attitude, but by 10:00AM, as the song says "the joint was jumping". Traffic was strong throughout the day and at closing time, IWJG Management had to literally run people off the show floor.

What was selling? Dealers from all over reported brisk sales in watches and jewelry. Gabe Arick, Mike Fonz, Ira Mish, Kamil Hakimian, Mark Santiago, Byron Eder, Leo Brafman and Jacob Hertzog, along with Tommy Labret of Zeidmans Jewelry and Loan from Detroit Michigan reported phenomenal show results!

Joe Nelson, IWJG Executive Director reports, "sales were tremendously strong in anything Rolex, Panerai, Audemars and Patek Phillipe." Fred Hakimian reports, "everything in jewelry is selling and with the uptick in diamond prices, any quality stone will move quickly, but diamonds in the 1, 1.5 and 2 carat range are almost flying out of the cases."
