IWJG March 2011 Las Vegas Show Report

The new Tropicana is going to be great for the IWJG according to the members’ feedback we received. Nikki’s Beach and several of the “still under construction “features will be in place by the time we return in September. Fred Hakimian reports that he sold and bought a lot of merchandise. Fred advises that Diamonds can be all over the place so make sure you know what the market is whether you are buying or selling. California member Gabe Arik reports he bought a lot of diamonds. Fred and Gabe expect prices to remain strong for stones. The deal is, if you want to sell a stone at anywhere near market value, it is moving on the IWJG floor. No if’s ands or buts! Jewelry and Diamonds are hot!!

Watches just keep gaining momentum. Drew Knoll, Joe Akar, Mike Fonz, Bob Wingate, Byron Eder and Gabe Arik are just a few of the many members that made a point of stopping by and telling us they had a” Very Good Show”. What’s Selling? Moderns are still on fire. Hot items are Patek, Rolex, Breitling, Paneri, Cartier and Chanel, to name just a few. Sport watches move quickly. There seems to be a real market price firming up and it is taking some effort to make sure you are buying a little below market and then turning the item quickly at a fair price. Merchandise turn is the word of the day on the IWJG Show floor. For members looking for bargains to buy and hold there seems to be some opportunities in Vintage, Pockets, Small Ladies Dress and Sport Watches. Additional opportunities are reported for large Gents with aftermarket diamonds. Once again make sure you know what you are doing with buy and hold items. All in all, Las Vegas was GREAT!
