IWJG January 2014 Las Vegas Show Report

We weren't sure what to expect with the Midwest and the Northeast iced in, but the show wound up to be the same size as last year even with Mother Nature doing her worst. Typical Las Vegas slow starter (we are sure no one was out late in Vegas) but the members seem to arrive a little later here than for other shows. None the less the show got rolling and by 10:30 there was a good buzz in the room and the cash counters were rolling. We know some of you thought this show was a little soft, so we are not going to tell you what we thought; here it is from the members that were there. we report, you decide.

First of all... What was selling... Diamonds were good, certain jewelry items were moving, in watches normal modern stuff was selling, AP's, Breitling, IWC's and VC's showed some positive movement. Here are the reports we received from the floor... Tommy LaBret had a very good show... Eddie Kurayev had a very good show and added "I love this Vegas Show"... Rich Lopez and Mark Nance (lots of smaller items) had good shows... Baha Turker and his partner from San Francisco had a very good show... Kamil Hakimian reported a good show... Alex Ciani had a good show (sold some merchandise he had for a while and had good buys)... Karl Urban had a good event... Joe Demesy said he had to work (way to go Joe) for it but he eaked out a decent result... Michael and Bijan Javaheri reported decent shows while Maricella Reyes turned in very good results... The Porcellos missed Monday because of weather, got in early Tuesday AM set up and had a very good show on Tuesday alone... Partners Beth Nixon and Richard Crumly along with Marco Dam and Peter Berlin had decent shows... Michele Motale had a very good outing as did Farzid Sharim... Gary Zumalt (Thoughts to Gary as he heads in for some surgery) said " this is one of my favorite shows and I did very well again"... Minh Hong turned in good results as did Patrick Aziz of Huntington Beach... Alfonso Valencia reported a Very, Very, Very good show... Albert Akbashev of Swiss Made said his results were very good... Kurt Rothner reported a very good outing... Gabe Gonzales (New Beautiful Baby Girl) had a good show... Newton Ng had a very good result from his efforts at the Las Vegas show... The famous Bob Maron reported that his show was very good... Omer Zach results were very good... Jacob Herzog called in a very good show... Gary Haftel had a great Monday and a little slower Tuesday for an overall good solid show... David Gadanian had a very good buying show... Joe Akar (proud father of the famous Kane Akar) had a GREAT Show and so did Fred Hakimian who described it as "wonderful".

While we did have other members that asked not to be quoted that had very good results, we also had some members that thought the show was a little soft... We do not know what to say... We had well over 500 dealers in the room over the two days that were paying good money to come in and buy. The reports above are only a portion of the actual submissions and we want to thank all of you for your input. If that many qualified dealers are in a room, just like the above reports there is business to be had by selling, buying and/or trading... Overall Las Vegas was a very good first effort for 2014... Thank you all for braving the elements and coming to the desert and being a part of this event... Thank you very much (Elvis).
