International Watch and Jewelry Guild Trade Show Report

Las Vegas, NV
March 14-15, 2005

- by B. Bullock, President

For a March show, we had a nice time in Vegas. About 500 members and special guests — some dealers still recovering from our blockbuster Orlando show.

Prices on watches were still high. About **% off from Orlando prices. Rolex sports are still very strong. All other brands, Pateks and Cartiers, were in short supply due to the strong Euro. Most better models on best brands were at **% to **% off list. Not much action on tutone Rolexes. Some volume on all stainless steel ladies and gents. All Daytonas still strong. All in all, the watch action was fair.

Most action on diamonds was in large lots of EGL and GIA cert stones, strong. Many lots offered at **% to **% back of Rap. No 3, 4 or 5 carat stones on the floor. The few that changed hands were at **% down to **% off Rap. Looks like for the near future, stones over 3 carats are not available. No action in jewelry. The closeout boys did not do much for a small show — most were satisfied.

As always, Chief Whitaker, had security covered like a blanket. See you in New York.
